Technology Support for VCU Students

VCU IT Support Center

The IT Support Center (ITSC for short) is one of the primary technology support resources VCU students have access to 24/7 via phone, as well as email and in-person support during normal business hours. They offer assistance with installing software, getting connected to VCU SafeNet Wireless, resetting your VCU eID password to regain access to your account, and much more! The IT Support Center also offers loaner laptops (Chromebooks) for VCU students to checkout up to 2 weeks at a time.

VCU FixIt

Located next to the RamTech technology store within the VCU Barnes & Noble Bookstore on West Broad Street (address below), VCU FixIt offers computer repair services for Apple and Dell computers. In addition to these services, they also offer support for malware/virus removal, operating system installation/reinstallation, and data backup/transfer.

VCU FixIt alongside the RamTech technology store also offers a customized computer warranty program called RamSupport for VCU students, faculty, and staff which provides hardware repairs, accidental damage, and other services for a fee for any Apple or Dell computer (RamSupport must be purchased within 1 year of original purchase of the device). While some services may be provided under warranty or a service plan, others may only be available for a fee.

VCU FixIt is a department of VCU Technology Services and works with RamTech which is managed and operated by Barnes & Noble through an agreement with VCU Business Services and VCU Technology Services. 

RamTech at the VCU Barnes & Noble Bookstore

RamTech (part of the VCU Barnes & Noble Bookstore) serves as the primary on-campus technology store for VCU students offering Apple computers in-stock (Dell computers available for special order), as well as a variety of other technology products and accessories.

RamTech works closely with the VCU FixIt department to offer RamSupport, a customized warranty program specifically designed for VCU students, faculty, and staff to provide both hardware repair and accidental damage coverage for any Apple or Dell computers as well as loaner laptops for the duration of the repair for your laptop.

VCU ResNet

VCU ResNet offers technical support for ALL VCU students. They offer malware/virus removal support, hard drive/ssd replacement (where applicable), and operating system installation/reinstallation.

The ResNet team also works with the technology support teams mentioned above (ITSC and fixIt) to triage issues for additional support. For students living on campus, they also triage network-related issues to the VCU Network Services team.
