StudyWell supports the whole student

StudyWell programming focuses broadly on student wellbeing. Events highlight all types of health and wellness, including physical, financial, emotional and social health, in order to support students’ academic success.

All sessions are free and open to all VCU students. Most events are drop-in with no registration required. To propose sessions or for questions or accommodations, please contact the VCU Libraries Events Office at rbpander@vcu.edu or (804) 828-0593.

StudyWell programming debuted in 2021, when students returned to classes on-campus after the COVID-19 closure. Libraries faculty and staff recognized students needed extra support in their return to campus life and offered opportunities under the StudyWell banner.

Programs address student success broadly and inclusive of these elements:

  • Managing time
  • Reducing stress
  • Maintaining good health
  • Eating well
  • Sleeping regular hours
  • Relaxing and focusing
  • Exercising and being active
  • Studying and researching effectively
  • Staying in touch with family and friends
  • Keeping track of finances

A slate of StudyWell events and experiences is held each semester in library buildings on the MCV and Monroe Park campuses. To date, more than 493 scheduled opportunities–ranging from simple crafts, massage chairs, yoga, giveaways, study sessions for specific communities, exhibits, healthy snacks and treats, Dogs on Call visits–have touched thousands of students.

VCU Libraries works with many on-campus partners to organize StudyWell. Partners include the Division of Student Affairs and Strategic Enrollment Management and Student Success.

Funding for StudyWell is from libraries operating budget, the Friends of VCU Libraries and the VCU Foundation.
